Frequently Asked Questions

I have no sailing experience, can I participate ?
Yes, most of our dinghies should be sailed by two people so crews are often required. If you would like to crew, just visit the dinghy park any sailing Sunday between 10.00 and 10.15am or Wednesday evenings in the summer between 7.00 and 7.30pm.
I have a dinghy, could I keep it at Twickenham Yacht Club ?
Yes, we have two dinghy parks, the one for more active boats is 100 metres from the Clubhouse heading towards Richmond whilst other boats and road trailers can be kept in the second park behind the Mary Wallace theatre.
I can sail but I have no boat. Can I participate ?
Yes, either crew for someone or borrow one of the club boats.
What sort of dinghies can be sailed ?
Most of the fleet is made up of Enterprises (two people boats with blue sails), National 12’s (a bit more lively also for two people), Solos (single-handed) and Toppers (single-handed and ideal for teenagers).
What about social events ?
The bar is open most Wednesday evenings, every Friday evening and Sunday lunchtime. We also have a number of Saturday evening events including sit down and buffet dinners, discos and an Annual Ball.
Where can I park my car ?
Parking restrictions do not apply on Sundays or after 6.30pm on other days. The bar sells Parking Permits which allow you to park in the resident bays when necessary.
Are there membership formalities ?
Yes, you need to visit the Club a few times in order to get to know us (please sign the visitors book). If you wish to join, the application process is simple.
What will it cost ?

What is the best way to find out more ?
Visit the Clubhouse any Sunday between 1.00 and 2.00pm, come upstairs and speak to any of our members.
