Powerboat Level 2
RYA Power Boat Level 2 course is a 2-day weekend course and typically runs between March and October at TYC each year.
The course counts as coastal as our waters in Twickenham are tidal.
All of our courses are taught by RYA qualified instructors in groups with a maximum ratio of 3 students to each instructor. Teaching takes place on the water and in the classroom and we move between the two depending on the group, the weather conditions and the requirements of the curriculum (however please note the course is predominantly water based so relatively poor weather won’t stop us from going out on the water!).
Please note, at present, we cannot offer our scheduled classes, but we are taking down interest, so that we can re-plan once Government guidelines allow us to re-start training. Please contact via email: email@example.com for more information.
You will be provided with a life jacket.
We can provide advice on what is suitable to wear.
But being mindful of the weather you should consider;
waterproof clothing, warm layers (e.g. micro fleece etc.), shoes you are happy to get wet, a towel,
a change of clothes, suntan cream, a hat,
a water bottle and lunch.
This entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (no previous qualification is required).
It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course is classed as coastal and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
Please note, minimum age - 12. Candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate
