Powerboat Level 2
This course is suitable for people with no powerboat experience and those who wish to improve their skills. It focuses on low speed manoeuvring, man overboard recovery, an introduction to planning, basic navigation and collision regulations. It is a good introduction to powerboating in daylight and sheltered conditions including tidal rivers and harbours.
The course is based at Twickenham Yacht Club, Riverside, Twickenham, TW1 3DL. Courses are delivered on two consecutive days starting at 0930 (please arrive at 0920) and finishing no later than 1730. Roughly two thirds of the course duration is spent on the tidal Thames. There is a maximum of three students per instructor.
Successful students are awarded the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Power Boat Level 2 Powerboat Handling certificate which allows you to obtain an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) for a fee. More information is available from the RYA website. Note that Power Boat Level 2 includes Level 1, we do not offer a separate Level 1 course and you do not need Level 1 to attend our course.
At our centre students must be at least eighteen years old on the first day of the course although other centres accept children. Note that the Club has no obligation to refund if you decide to cancel. Students who are non-members of Twickenham Yacht Club automatically become Temporary Members.
