Each year, TYC is proud to sponsor a variety of competitive sailing races every evening of the week in support of the RNLI. Racing begins at 7:30pm, followed by drinks in the Clubhouse bar, open from 8pm until 11pm. Even if not racing, come by the Club and watch the action! The week will end on Friday 14 June with prize-giving and the ‘Bring a Dish’ Lifeboat party dinner.
Bar open 8pm onwards - bring a dish to share and cash for RNLI Donations.
RNLI lifeboats have been operating on the River Thames since 2002 from lifeboat stations at Chiswick, Gravesend, Teddington and Tower Bridge. Having the RNLI on the river is important to TYC sailors as the river’s cold temperature, rapid pace and changing tides make it incredibly dangerous. Speed is of the utmost importance and anyone in the water must be reached within minutes, especially given the constant heavy traffic from passing watercraft of every kind.
